Designation: Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva
History of the wine: The Chianti Classico Riserva produced by the Pieve di San Cresci vineyards is the result of meticulous work among the vines that culminates in the selection of the best grapes from the optimally positioned vineyards. Vinification is carried out in small (225 l) French oak barrels followed by the necessary bottle aging.
Grapes: Sangiovese 90%, other red grapes 10%.
Alcohol: 13%
Production area: Chianti hills between 250 and 400 m above sea level with southern exposure.
Terrain: Clayey, calcareous marl.
Growing system: Spurred cordon with 6 buds.
Yield per hectare: maximum 40-50 quintali (100 kg).
Harvesting: Selected bunches of grapes are harvested by hand during the first few days of October.
Vinification: The grapes are vinified at a controlled temperature of between 25° C and 28° C. The maceration occurs over 12-15 days with repeated pump-overs and delestage (rack and return). The malalactic fermentation takes place after the racking of the wine
Maturation and aging: The wine is elevated in French oak barrels for at least 12 months.
Refinement in bottles has a duration of 12 months at a stable temperature of 15° C and 16° C.

Colour: Deep ruby red.
Aroma: Fruity with scents of spices.
Taste: On the palate, this wine is structured and persistent emphasising a particular delicacy of the tannins.
